“ANAKA-O-NA” Announced: Dawn and Dusk

Talassa Theater and Nileny Dippton Productions present " ANAKA-O-NA ", a super immersive play that seeks to honor our greatest ancestral heroine , through songs, projections and interpretation, written by Cristian Martínez .
The production features general production by Cristian Martínez and Nileny Dippton , also the playwright and actress in the piece, and is directed by Fausto Rojas. This historic production showcases the distinguished Dominican actress's portrayal of 14 characters, from October 9th to 12th in the Ravelo Hall of the National Theater .
Ancestral heritage" ANAKA-O-NA " Dawn and Dusk , a milestone for Dominican culture , is an investigation that exposes the reality of a female chief , upon the arrival of the colonizers to our Kiskairy. This event is aimed at families with the purpose of showcasing our beautiful ancestral heritage and the strength of our race," said Nileny.
This story , narrated and experienced in an immersive way , using digital-age technology , will mark a before and after in terms of our character, firmly inserting him into our current culture.
A press release details that there will be areitos danced and sung, sounds of indigenous musical instruments, chirping of birds from Kiskairy, special effects and projections that complement scenes , turning this theatrical piece into a milestone for Dominican culture .
" ANAKA-O-NA ," executive produced by Nolandia Estévez and featuring special guest actress Nefer Galaxia , playing five characters, will be shown at the Sala Ravelo from Thursday to Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 6:30 p.m. General admission: RD$1,500.
The production highlights that delving into the world of Anacaona "allows us once again to recognize the power of the women of Quisqueya , from their origins . Female preponderance on the island has prevailed in all spheres, elevating it to levels that are still unattainable in other nations."
- The first female name on the island that emerges with great force in ancient chronicles is ANACAONA, originally ANAKA-O-NA or ANNAKA-IOUNA, chief of Jaragua and Maguana who formed the territory or kingdom of Bainoa, which covered almost three-quarters of the island.
This play , based on in-depth historical data and research, and which for theatrical and scenic reasons, has parts dramatically created in order to give a logical sequence to the plot, deals with the life of the first ancestral heroine of Quisqueya , from her birth in the waters of Jimenoa until her death in "The Force", "Fortaleza Ozama".
- The work is enriched with projections, songs or areitos, birdsong, shadow effects that interpret scenes , as well as oracular figures, shadows and spirits of light, etc.
The changes in stage through the moon and the sun are very important in the performance. The Arawakan language predominates in all the scenes of the play .
